#365PictureBooks Day 20 – Dinosaur vs. bedtime

“Roaaaar! Roaar! Nothing can stop me!

Nothing can stop little dinosaur-not talking grownups, spaghetti, or even bath time. But what happens when he faces the biggest challenge of all.. bedtime?

With spare text and irresistible dinosaur roaaars, little dinosaurs will be begging for this book to be read again and again”. Publisher.

I love anything written by Bob Shea and so do kids!  This is an example of a perfect little picture book that is great for the youngest of readers. It always works very well with an older sibling reading it aloud to a smaller child. The illustrations are very simple but pack a lot of emotion into them. You can see how fierce and tough the dinosaur is and how he means business! There isn’t a lot of  text but the choice of words and the font and size reflect the strength of  will of the little dinosaur. The illustrations combine drawing with cutouts from photographs. I love the way we do not see the adults only their legs from knee level down – a familiar view for lots of small people!

Love it!

This picture book is an award winner and it is easy to see why.
